This is why the J Rich/Desmond Mason contest is my fav too. It had a great build up. A better build up than any that I've ever seen first hand (91-present).

Kenny Smith helped big time with the hype on that too with all of his talk about the contest being over and how he has to see something he's never seen before. Then Richardson pulling off that last dunk to do it. shyt was amazing.

:salute: for you admitting that shyt though....me and my boys used to go to an elementary school in jr high and play 3 on 3 dunks only game with 8 foot hoops.

8 foot hoops = pure and unadulterated fukkery

That shyt was so fun playing ball on 8 foot hoops lol. Throwing alley-oops, doing windmills, trying to dunk on each other

Ahh good times

It's always been a popularity contest, that's why I can't stand to watch the dunk contest if it features superstars because their name carries too much pull on the judges.

J.Richardson/Mason battle was the craziest thing I've ever seen...

Also, Iguodala in the 2006 contest.....where (1) Iverson bounced it off the BACK of the backboard and Iggy caught it and windmilled it (at the 0:32 mark)...and (2) when he threw himself the ally, caught it in mid-air and went BEHIND his back (at the 1:04 mark):

I was the only one in my hood with an adjustable rim, so we would always have dunk contest at my house. I'm envious that yall could try shyt like that on 8 ft joints. I always had to take mine down to 7ft for fancy dunks.
