Off topic but I watched that Back In Time documentary and the "To Be Continued..." wasn't in the film's theatrical release. They didn't know there'd be a sequel, but wanted to end the film on them going off onto another adventure. They added that graphic for the VHS release, so everyone always assumed the sequels were always planned, because that's the version people remember. They took away the "To Be Continued" for the recent reissue.

They also said they wouldn't have included Jennifer in the final scene if they knew there were going to be sequels because they didn't know what to do with her after that.

It's just one of the praised films that's boring af. I would never have it on my top ten. Give it another whirl if u can take it.

shyt, if I wanna watch an acclaimed movie of a guy in the desert I can watch Lawrence of Arabia or The English Patient. I never heard of this movie until this thread, and IMDB ratings are solid. I guess it picks up after he goes to LA.

I love this movie so fukkin much. I watch it every Easter just because it has that majesty to it. Shyt I'm about to watch it now

What's so good about the movie though? No one has answered my question yet. At least I can tell you why every movie on my list is there.

Great cinematography first and foremost for me. It's probably my favorite aspect of film so from the from the opening shot I was transfixed because I liked what I was seeing.

I didn't really know what was going on at first but I was invested in Travis' character the moment I saw him walk across that desert. Why is he walking? Why doesn't he talk? Why did he abandon his family? All of these were burning questions for me so watching the plot unfold was never boring. I wanted to go on the journey with the character because I was curious about the events that led to Michael's downfall.

Now when he finally reunited with his son, who he's basically a stranger to at this point.Watching them learn to how to be a father and son was awkward and sad.

When Michael and son's relationship finally improves, the movie throws another mystery at you. You find out that the child was abandoned by not only Michael but the mother as well. Now, why did she leave him? What troubles could be so great that both these adults would run away and leave their own child? What were they afraid of?

That doesn't sound boring to me at all.
