Use that blue car from that apartment near the bridge. it's pretty fast
I'm pretty sure #1 is optional. I guess solace can be found in that.
I deliberately avoided that one a couple of years back while playing San Andreas on the 360.

10 was easy as hell and 1 was optional
It was tweaked after the hot coffee edition to be easier, I believe. So unless you have an OG copy, the mission won't be as difficult.
The GTA IV missions were cake tho. The nextgen missions in general are easy compared to the old ones.
All of them are pretty easy except for Supply Lines and the mission where you have to protect Salvatore in LCS. Wrong Side of the Tracks is pretty easy when you realize you can get on top of the train
the mission on san andreas where you have to protect the transformers from getting shot down by other planes would be #1 imo.
I spent hours on #1 only to find out it was optional..
