The list looks at cities that have ranked highly in research studies and surveys mainly for expatriots based on the high cost of living. Notoriously expensive cities like Luanda in Angola didn't make the cut since they are looking at total living costs, not just the price of random goods - such as the average $243 you'd have to spend to buy a pair of blue jeans there.

10. Vancouver, British Columbia
9. San Francisco, California
8. Sydney, Australia
7. Oslo, Norway
6. Hong Kong, China
5. Zurich, Switzerland
4. Moscow, Russia
3. Singapore
2. London, England
1. Tokyo, Japan

Honorable Mentions:

Paris, France
Stockholm, Sweden
Copenhagen, Denmark

List is the truth. A nikka recently spent a week in Tokyo and that shyt was the most expensive city I've ever seen in my life (I live in NYC). Tokyo WILL put a dent in your account unless you're on that super-ultra budget traveller steez. Hotel + food + transportation + sightseeing + drinks + nightlife had me like :why:.

100% worth it though:takedat:.

I didn't even mention shopping. If you got bread to go shopping for real out there :dwillhuh:

Harajuku :whew:

Aoyama :banderas:

Daikanyama :myman:

Shinjuku :noah:

I remember walking in this one real low key spot in Shimokitazawa, just a chill neighborhood a couple stops from Shibuya. They had walls of the freshest denim I've ever seen :ohlawd: Nothing less than $300 though. :sadbron: I was checking my currency conversion app like :whoo:

It's all in how you handle your finances. I want to move to London in the future and I already have how I'm gonna spend planned out. Just be frugal with your finances. Well, I guess I can live in the countryside of London.
