One Love and NY State of Mind are better than I Gave You Power. It Ain't Hard to Tell>If I Ruled the World.

:childplease: Illmatic is a platinum selling album with over 1.5 million copies sold, plenty of people got it. Nas almost won lyricist of the year in '95 based on Illmatic.
Nah, you skim through music and dont listen to it... terrible verses and terrible "music"

"islands packed with black rats and loose cracks" :bryan:
you nikkaz are impressed too easily, but like ol buddy said, naS stans arent smart enough to know simple words like 'scroll'

Thats not what the songs says tho, Nas haters pull shyt out they ass
"In the PJ's,my blend tape plays, bullets are stray
Young bytches is grazed, each block is like a maze
Full of black rats, plus the island is packed
From all the stories I hear when my people come back
Im living where the nights is jet black
The fiend fight to get crack..."

Pretty straight forward, In Nas' project he listens to his blend tape (mixtape) while all sorts of crazy shyt happens outside, young girls get hit with stray bullets, Queensbridge is full of black rats (savages, criminals, etc.). The island (Rikers Island, prison facility in NY) is packed from what he hears from his returning friends. Nas lives where the nights are jet black (grimy) and fiends fight each other for crack.
I don't get what's so hard about these lyrics or how their "terrible".

nothin is hard about it at all, its just garbage. The fact that nothing is hard about it at all tells you its not lyrically impressive. You just lower your standard for the chump. Youre actin like what you posted is better than my summary... complete garbo. Unlike the poetry contained in IWW...

"my style switch like a fakket" :bryan:

you nikkaz are too easily impressed with that trash.

the track where he switches up his voice and talks about who killed hip hop...

I get the concept, understand it but it just sounds cheesy.

most of Nas wack tracks are because he experiments.
Sometimes he fukks around and makes a Rewind or a Book of Rhymes

other times he'll make a "Who Killed it" or UBR.

either way I like the fact that he experiments and tries new shyt, unlike Jay who plays it safe and makes bullshyt albums like that Holy Grail shyt. I had a lil road trip and was listening to it...I pretty much played the same 5 songs for 2 hours, everything else was trash. I'm now using the album as a coaster for my red stripe.

Summer On Smash

Nas is way too talented to be making pandering songs about nothing just to fit into a certain club or radio lane..

im gonna get hate for this because the song is about his mom but i think Dance is one of his worst..

i think the hook is cringe worthy, the beat is corny, and his dad Olu Dara playing the Cornet at the end sounds like a 8 year old Stevie Wonder learning how to play the Harmonica

Reminds me of one of the most blatant bites of all time

I can see why some ppl hate on Zone Out but Nas killed his verse, plus I always like the Jungle line.
