I’ll be real. If I ever have a daughter I’m giving her a white name. While I love the black names and I have several in my family, I know how often people pass over them just because of a name. It’s sad as hell but it’s the reality of it. I can’t have my little girl submitting a job or college application with the name Diamond.

I haven’t seen it happen much with black men, but with black women at my job it’s constant.
