Mac legit had so many joints... R&B, stoner raps, philosophical raps, introspective raps, girl raps, drug raps...
He was one of the most versatile artists that captured the essence of the hip hop we grew up on but with his own modern flair.
This is what made him so dope and unique... I'm in multiple Mac Miller threads over the years saying this and been a fan since his K.I.D.S mixtape. I just hated his "frat rap" era he almost went down for a year or so but I think even he knew that was corny and abandoned that shyt quickly and dropped Watching Movies Wit the Sound Off. I still can't even believe he was only 20 when he dropped that album, so ahead of his time conceptually and lyrically and when you compare it to 20 year old rappers of today, you see how serious Mac was about his craft and the culture of hip hop. He was not fukking around wit this shyt.
I ranted a bit but this shyt really fukked me up... I can't post his top 3 songs cause Mac really had that many joints and so many dope ass guest appearances. I'd say start with his FACES (by far his best project) mixtape and then listen to WMWTSO, GOOD A.M, The Divine Feminine, Macadellic, Blue Slide Park and finish off with Swimming, his most recent release. That's how I would introduce anyone wanting to get into Mac music. Check these out though...
