Drake was not an artist in the CD era. The CD era was on its death bed by 09, drake is an artist of the pirating, digital download and, finally, streaming eras
This was still the cd era. No one was streaming music on 2011 like that.

I mean we’re applauding streams which is 100% a generationally biased metric? We supposed to celebrate streams over the physical era where people bought your product and listened to it in its entirety for months vs shyt where one song shows up on every playlist? Streams, we talking about streams :aicmon:
Not to mention placement on playlists is label driven.

No it wasn’t. Yes, CDs were sold, just as they are today, but the CD era was over. Can you not see the CD era was ~95-05, look at downloads and ringtones (digitals) which overtook CDs, then streaming. Drake arrived as CD sales had wildly declined, we were no longer in the CD era.

Digit Downloads are not the same as streaming fam, it’s basically the same as cds. You have to download the whole album to count as a one album sale. Like as said before streaming was not big in 2011.

Drake dominated the cd era also.

I wouldn't say dominate. He was one of the top sellers, but there were even rappers who sold more CD's than Drake. Eminem and Kanye in 2010 were selling more than Drake. Wayne in 2011 was selling more than Drake and Eminem in 2013 was selling more than Drake.

Please point to where I said streaming was big in 2011 or that digital downloads were the same as streaming? Streaming took off in 2014. And you could buy individual tracks during the digital era. It wasn’t the same as the CD era and even if you wanted to say it was, it still wasn’t the same as the peak CD/paid music era as music revenue was reaching its lowest, most people were pirating.

Drake is a digital (meaning streaming and downloads) age artist
