Its all accurate. After a certain number of years, it makes sense to leave as your pay is capped. If I managed to find a new role, my likely pay raise would dwarf what I received in past years combined. Also, some roles aren't promotable. Unfortunately, some people spend years in a role before they learn.

One of the top managers came to the warehouse I work at asking why turnover rate was high. I pressed him about not being able to even afford a single bedroom apartment off of $16 an hour and then he backed off and started juelzing about how he made $7.25 an hour right he got out of the marines so we should be grateful.
That’s relative to expenses at the time. Like 16.25 an hour don’t cut it when rent is 2k for a studio and gas is $6/gal

I’m currently working two full time jobs one that pays $16/hr and I work 8 hours OT there and the other pays $19/hr. 88 hours per week yet it doesn’t feel like enough to get my own spot smh rent is way too damn much

Also @Serious what do you think of this 35% of households in the US make more than $100,000 which is more than the percentage in poverty

Seems believable, but remember that means 65% of households don’t make 100k.

Marriage is legit the best way for people to rise their household income, as long as both parties are working.

Median income in America is only like 30k.

What’s the median for people that work a full time job tho (at least 35 hours a week)

The Bureau of Labor Statistics reported a median personal income of $1010 weekly for all full-time workers in 2021.[2]

Where in the country do you live btw? You mentioned a high cost of living and that it's hard to find an apartment...

Cali is tough, I hear...

Allow me to suggest Arkansas:sas1:

If you can get the same type of work, CoL much lower, tho
Fukk no lol moving to Cali has been one of the best decisions of my life. You 6ft 6 cert brehs make the dating life hard as hell in the DMV. Perfect weather plus bad latinas everywhere. Not to mention zero competition these Hispanicacs are short asf with no game built like the Michelin man or a skateboarder most of the time lol. If you a tall nikka like me you should have no problem eating. Not to mention I probably wouldn’t be making anywhere near the same salary I am now. Currently at $5000 a month take home pay.

I used to be in the DMV, but I’m in Cali now. If you’re netting 5K a month in take home that would do you way better in the DMV, especially out in PG.

Idk about the IE but the Latinas I’ve seen in the Bay ain’t it at all (honestly, most of the women I've seen). Women looked way better out in the DMV. You should have been eating well out in the DMV, unless what you make now isn’t what you made out in the DMV.

This is my current department right now. One analyst was on the team for 3yrs before they promoted him to Sr. Analyst. Sure, there’s a lot of knowledge needed to move up, but if you want to make moves elsewhere, that looks like a red flag. Most analysts are promoted in 18-24 months.

I’m at 18 months in this role and I’m looking to pivot. Things are getting a bit rocky at the moment and Idk if this place is the best deployment of my talents (there is some room for improvement on my part though).
