Could someone overpay for Simmons? Sure. But Morey is playing with fire. You can’t start the season with Simmons on the team. And if you spend the summer making ridiculous offers that means you have less time for serious offers later. Teams will smell desperation and try to take advantage. Assuming Morey is too proud to admit he’s down bad…he’s gonna end up keeping Simmons out of spite and it will ruin the team.
