He thought making Megan out to be this super industry whore was gonna help his case.
People really don’t read the room these days. These tactics have been tried too many times to have the same impact as in the past. Not only that but the evidence was super piled against him. Him doubling down on the stupid was cringe. He could have gotten a light ass sentence if he accepted the plea deal. All this and Megan didn’t even press charges against him.

Can someone with actual law knowledge explain why he did not take the stand, what are the pros and cons?
His lawyer thought that the prosecution had no shot at conviction based on their case. Basically the prosecution has to prove their case, you dont have to prove your innocence. He could’ve incriminated himself on the stand so it wouldve been a risk.

He should have been quiet these past 2-3 years. I don’t understand why he was so outspoken about an open case.

That and he should have laid low but dude literally got entire assault cases and charges from other fukkery he got into. This behavior is a clear pattern. But instead of encouraging him to get help, his sorry fan base was so gung ho to see a dude humble a black woman, that they gassed him up when he was doing dumb shyt like cutting off horse hooves in music videos.:francis::mjlol:

That's how badly dude was gassed up.

Crazy thing is if he took the plea deal and settled with Megan, chances are he'd be walking out right now after about a year.

Everyone on the internet basically gave the guy bad advice and now get to carry on with their lives. Keyboard incel warriors.

Those people never mention real values that are proven to work or lessen the damage such as "owning up for your mistakes".

if the plea deal was really one year, he's dumb as hell for not taking that especially considering there was blood, gun, and one other witness who was obviously going to defend herself.

You don't just get to tell your story and sit down. The prosecution gets to cross examine you and if you can't answer intelligently, you gonna look like a liar in front of the jury. They're gonna question you about the inconsistencies. And you are going to have to break it down moment by moment of what happened. "You apologized on the phone with Kelsey. Why"? Because you slept with both of them? Nah Mr. Lanez that doesn't make sense. Because see in your phone conversation, you apologized for doing something THAT NIGHT, after leaving the party. You said you did it because you were drunk, correct? Then you specified that it happened because you were given 5 shots when you arrived at the party. So this apology had to be something that you did that night, after the party. Not some time last week or last month or whenever you slept with both of them. And why would you be apologizing to Kelsey about sleeping with Kelsey anyway? Oh you don't remember your apology? Here let me play it again so we all can hear it...

It could get very uncomfortable for the defendant on the stand :francis:

I think it also included deportation though.

Nah. If I had to do an armchair diagnosis, he probably has severe emotional disabilities. I used to work with kids and young adults like this. They actually got a lotta heart and aren’t bad people. But they can NOT regulate their behavior or their emotions without years of training. Somebody like that in a Hollywood environment is bound to crash and burn because he gets shyt tons of psychological reinforcement from fans gassing him up for their own agendas when he does dumb shyt. These are the types of kids who would tear a classroom apart in a fit of rage and then cry and sob expressing how sorry they were afterwards. They legit don’t mean harm but need a lot of training to get beyond destructive behaviors.

When this shyt happened, he could have EASILY defused the situation by going public and saying “Damn I fukked up and was wildin last night. I’m super sorry and will take accountability for my actions.” Probably could have settled out of court. Megan didn’t even press charges against him.
But NOPE. He let wack bw-hating dudes get in his ear.
“She a drunk hoe anyway”
“Fukk dat bytch”

The public used this dude for their own beefs and now he gotta do the time. shyt is sad because this could have been resolved in a much better way.

Damn that’s true. That’s wild too.

I guess it’s easy to ignore those issues because all we see is the money music success etc.
