It doesn't matter who he is on the outside; on the inside, he's food. He's shackled up with men from all walks of degeneracy, from murders, rapists, etc, who don't have anything to lose, crazy asf, and dangerous.

Some are in there for years, if not life; they could care less if he's a rap star that ain't got no weight in jail. You have to earn your “keep” (respect, etc), and if anything, that outside status makes him more of a target.

Respected and feared inmates with juice don't get stabbed up (among other dire issues) in prison. Nobody got the gull to touch them because their name meant something, and knows the blowback would be huge; hierarchy is a thing inside prison; if he was a bossed up and revered figure, he wouldn't be lying in the prison hospital, bleeding.

Hypothetically, If he were bossed up then he obviously gets no respect for this to even happen. Gang? Hmph, well, dayum, that's some gang to let you get ice-picked.

He got stabbed likely because he didn't want to do whatever the person wanted from him, money, sex, commissary, etc, or he looked at someone the wrong way, or who knows got in somebody's face? That person could've been pressuring him about the aforementioned.
