Doing 90 in the middle of a downpour and hydroplaned across the highway :snoop:. Thank God no other car got hit or no injuries.

Must’ve been a pretty bad downpour. Usually traction control + appropriate tires in good condition can usually handle that speed with no problem.

I’m in Cali though, so the rains we see probably aren’t comparable to other parts of the country.

What year CLS? The pre facelifted ones got that ugly ass E class interior. The facelifted ones are decent enough. Both are beautiful on the outside.

I ended up getting a 2014 CLS 63 AMG S Model. Caught a good deal and couldn't pass it up. Flawless condition, low mileage, right color interior (tired of black interior) and super clean car fax/service history at Mercedes + slapped a extended warranted on it. I figure this will hold me over until I get that Audi E-Tron GT in 2-3 years. I'll take some pics when it get here (about 10-14 days) but here are some images from the dealer...

your traction control is not gonna save you when your wheels are literally not making contact with the road. standing water puddles is when this occurs not just regular wet pavement. thats what hydroplaning is. on a straight away you may not notice you're hydroplaning but go ahead and try to turn the wheel when your tires aren't touching the pavement.

True, but I still feel like I haven't had any serious issues with planing in almost twenty years now, and I've logged some heavy miles in my vehicles. I spun out once in the rain a couple years ago and it's when I was driving with a failed traction control unit. I do know when I'm loosing traction and adjust my speed accordingly though. I do feel like it was a much bigger issue to drive in the rain before it was introduced however.

why get the pre-facelift though? I'm an A7 driver for the last 5 years myself and if I get something else in the next 1-2 yrs, it's either the new RS7 or SQ8 for a daily driver. R8 is one of my dream cars for one day once these damn med school loans are paid off.

Nice pick up. I wanna say you got a Performance Package on it too judging by the steering wheel and brake calipers. Even more power than the standard CLS 63 AMG :whew:
