There is plenty of A List Actors that still audition. So that Denzel statement may be true for HIM which I doubt but it's not true for most.

It's definitely true though, bro. Denzel said it himself.

The greats don’t really audition anymore, after they do their thing. Eddie Murphy said he hasn't auditioned since he was trying to get on SNL in like 1980. These dudes don’t bother with that after they have success, lol.

To be fair. He came off like an a$$hole as well. “I don’t do auditions..” nikka what u mean? Ur a musician and there’s A list actors that still have to audition for certain roles. The audition is not about the talent it’s about how well u gel with the artist and if we have a good vibe together.

You dont chase someone and then try to treat them as if they need you wtf are you talking about? And your titanic example falls flat cuz Leo wasn't an established actor who was producing his own movies, he still needed directors/producers to hire him for work :mjlol: it's a crazy false equivalency anyway, you can make an album by yourself if you're as good as glasper, no amount of acting skills would give Leo the ability to make a movie by himself, the mediums are completely different in that regard, a good musician can have way more freedom than the greatest actor and it's not even close, no idea if you thought any of that through before choosing to die on such a weird hill:snoop:

There are plenty of a list actors who dont need to audition for shyt, and even if they were asked to there's nothing stopping them from turning it down :dead: that happens all the time too. If Mjchael B jordan says he doesn't wanna audition for a role guess what? He's rich enough to stand on it if he wants to, glasper just saying that's how he felt being signed and putting out his own albums, he didn't need to chase band gigs anymore, she was talking to him like he was the one who wanted the gig, that's ass backwards,

that's like a chick tryna tell you to ask her on a date while you're already taken and enjoy your girl :skip: you gonna laugh and walk away.

Imagine calling up Tyler Perry and telling him he needs to come audition for something you're doing :mjlol: nikka is hanging up the phone, why put in all that work for people to still treat you like you need to impress them?

And he knew for a fact she's not as musically gifted :dead: how you just ignore that? Her name was already in the mud, that person shouldn't be tryna lil bro anyone, for a 20 minute show? Disrespectful

Never seen that quote before, not that I don’t believe it possible but that’s new to me. I’m sure he grew to appreciate them later considering he named an album after one of their songs.

IIRC it wasn’t just the audition with Robert. She treated some of his friends/fellow musicians like shyt, they couldn’t speak to her directly, couldn’t make eye contact, plus it was alleged she shorted them out of some money at the last minute.

Did you listen to the rest of what she was asking? She was asking him to do an audition over the phone. The fukk an A-list Grammy award jazz musician gonna audition over the phone for?

That sounded like desperation at that point I think alotta y’all are misunderstanding like I’m trying to make Lauryn out to be some victim. She isn’t. She’s a narcissist I clearly said it early on in the thread. I was just saying auditioning isn’t only about talent. It’s also about if we work well together as well. Do we have a good vibe. Maybe she could’ve worded it different. Like “hey do u mind coming to do a jam session with me to see how well we work together?..”. Something like that.

Ehh. I guess. Like I said before. It's NOT about talent. U can be the most talented person in the world and we don't gel well together. Titanic's Jack character was made literally with Leo in mind and he didn't wanna audition for it and James Cameron forced him to STILL audition.

Leo wasn’t A-List at that point in his career. Titanic MADE him A-list but before that film he was an emerging character actor with one semi-hit film in Romeo & Juliet.

Glasper was already a Grammy award winning, nationally recognized jazz pianist and composer when Lauryn Hill’s team reached out to him. There’s a certain respect he should’ve been afforded and Lauryn has been known to be disrespectful and dismissive of some of her collaborators, even the A-list artists so I can understand why Glasper would approach the situation throwing his (considerable) weight around because it would be the same as if Aretha Franklin tried to lil bro Stevie Wonder and treat him like he’s just another session player if they were to collab.

I’m quite sure Lauryn Hill went through a lot of traumatic experiences being a young black woman in the industry, especially being damn near a child prodigy. She was only 16 when she starred in Sister Act 2 and was basically the co-lead opposite Whoopie Goldberg. And around that time period it must have been exceedingly difficult mentally for people to be questioning her talent and creative vision when that lawsuit gained headlines (for the record, even the musicians who sued her said that she wrote all of the lyrics and the majority of musical ideas were hers)

But none of that gave her the right to treat her fellow artists like dog shyt, treat her fans like paupers, and to act as if she’s above and beyond people even making eye contact with her. Hell Jay-Z, probably the most arrogant rapper whose ever existed, has never been accused of treating people like that.

Ok I’m getting annoyed with everyone misunderstanding what I’m saying. Number one. Titanic wasn’t Leo’s breakout role. Son starred opposite Deniro in This Boy’s Life. He was nominated for an academy award for Gilbert Grape. And he was also in shyt like Quck and The Dead opposite Sharon Stone and Russell Crowe. His breakout international role was actually Romeo and Juliet. THEN came Titanic. The role of Jack was tailor made for Leo. Meaning he was SOUGHT OUT for the movie. So he didn’t feel he had to audition. But he STILL did. fukk him tho. Plenty of A List actresses went out for Rose. And a virtually unknown Kate Winslet got the role instead. But my point wasn’t about talent in the first place. It was just about how well 2 people work together. The way she went about it was wrong. All she really had to do was say “Hey do u mind joining me for a jam session so we can see how well we work together?..” again it’s not about the talent it’s about how well the artists work together.

I feel conflicted when discussing her. Everyone’s career path is different and you never know how it will be till it is.

Fugees ~ The score was a certified classic and her performance were stellar.

Miseducation is one of the most impactful and influential albums of all time. Its one of those albums that I think are flawless.

As person yes she’s done a lot of a$$hole things but those two albums and all her feature performances are S tier. So to me i don’t see anything wrong with her being inducted but I also understand everyone’s grievance.

Something’s just are.

this dude has been telling some crazy stories on his YT channel lately between stories about snoop, jay-z and prince. I highly recommend.
Facts! I didn't know he was around so much but he is a legend.
People forget Toure been around chronicling Hip Hop for decades

He's a weirdo but he's culture stamped. I'd listen to him over somebody like Dream Hampton anyday
lol why the Dream Hampton shot? Ain't she Elliot wife or something. What do she do.
She was being hard-carried… and the real geniuses behind the music stopped fukkin with her because she was trifling:yeshrug:
She also didn't pay them or credit them though to be fair New Ark sued her and they never did anything as good since so clearly she had some influence on things or the synergy they all had was special.

She’s not Elliot Wilson’s wife, thats another journalist.

Dream Hampton been coming off shady for a few years. She’s the one who claimed that Nas used Jay Electronica and Stic.Man as Ghostwriters for Untitled and when both of them said she was lying she claimed she had reference tracks and Stic.Man called her bluff and she started going off about misogyny and blah blah and never not once provided an OUNCE of proof to her claims.

She also tried to get Dave Chappelle jammed up because he declined to appear in her R.Kelly documentary.

The nikka was playing Newport as a freshman in college for Kenny Garrett. He didn’t have to do auditions

I thought you were trying to trick people into watching your girl’s Tarot card channel.

My bad :hubie:
:russ: Nah not at all! Some how clicked the share link to that shyt by accident. I don't even know how. My bad on the Neg lol.
She’s the most overrated artist of the last 28 years

1 great album with nothing else to show for it except for tardiness to her shows and weird performances
I don't know bro, having a classic album is something many never accomplished. Sure she only gave us one album but that shyt is a certified classic across the board. You have to give credit for that. Even if she didn't write or produce all of it she sang and rapped on it and I'm sure she contributed to it too.

Yeah his attitude is very pompous to me. Don't like dude but it is what it is.
