Tower Records: How NEXT Level were they? (For those that KNOW)

My most memorable Tower Records experience was going there when it was open in Toronto in August 2001. I miss Tower Records.

The Tower Records here in atlanta was huge. Like the size of a Walmart. Magazine section was tough. And they had a mean ass jazz section. Damn near every record that ever made was in that Tower. I damn near cried when they shut that bytch down

I got arrested at the Tower across from Lennox for stealing a Mia X cassette when I was drunk off Colt 45. I tried to run for the exit and the Nel Carter looking fat ass manager sat on me until the cops came. Then I spent the night on Rice street and saw nikkas beat the fukk out of a tranny hooker named "Biscuits" in the holding cell.

I NEVER CALLED THAT NUMBER, BUT I WOULD SAMPLE THE MUSIC AT THE ACTUAL STORE WIT THE LIL HEADSET THING THEY HAD, U COULD JUS SCAN THE BARCODE N IT WOULD PLAY THE CD. THIS WAS THE ONE UP IN UNIVERSAL CITY WALK, I THINK THAT ONE WAS TWO STORIES (AS WERE MANY RECORD STORES BACK THEN)........

I FEEL BAD FOR THESE KIDS WHO NEVER GOT 2 EXPERIENCE THE FEELIN OF BROWSIN MUSIC IN THE PHYSICAL SMH

REMEMBER WHEN THEM LABELS, I THINK IT WAS COLOMBIA AND BMG, WOULD SEND THEM CD CATALOGUES- 12 CD'S FOR 99 CENTS OR SOME SHIIT...IT'D COME IN THE MAIL, U'D PEEL 12 CD STICKERS AND STICK EM IN A FORM THEY SENT, SEND THAT BIITCH BACK, AND 12 CD'S COME THRU FREE....CAME UP ON HELLA CD'S LIKE THAT, NEVER ONCE PAID NEITHER.

Funny enough I literally just watched the documentary by Colin hanks on tower records.

Crazy that the Japan location is still going

Also let you open vinyl in store and play records at the listening station.
You could lose hours easily doing that and reading magazines like The Source, Mass Appeal, Ego Trip etc.
