Angola is a beautiful country with fine ass women:ohlawd: and they are also one of the best economies in Africa (Oil money). Former colony of Portuguese... In a turn that reflects world events they are now offering the Portuguese financial aid and make more money than them :win:

Next step should be visiting... nothing pisses me off more than seeing almost 100% white tourists in Africa, nikkaz need to go see where they came from. I hate walking on a beach in Africa and seeing nothing but cacs and nikkaz serving them.

Yeah, I did the direct line maternal test (just mom's mom's mom etc) and paternal test (just dad's dad's dads..) and autosomal testing (all your ancestors).

The Autosomal testing was the coolest because you are put into contact with cousins between 1-6 Generations but sometimes back 10. I have a bunch of distant cousins in Jamaica and Guyana, and some in the Bahamas and Haiti. I tested with 2 of the top companies and someone on my maternal line tested with African Ancestry. Confirmed much of what I already knew, that my people have a lot of WC/Central African blood (various Bantu, Igbo and N. Nigeria/Cameroon) but clearly some of my folks were from Ghana (confirmed family here) and Senegal/Gambia. I've learned a lot talking to the different individuals I've been in touch, in trying to find our common ancestor. With the last census my family tree exploded and I was able to take my tree back much further and find the connection between one of the cousins my bro and mother matched (our great-grandmothers were kin). Other surprises were that were related to a white political analyst (you know the kind that go on segments on local and national news programs ie CNN, Fox news, MSNBC, etc) and he included our discovery in one of his columns. You can also confirm family rumors without having certain people tested (find out if certain people in your family have the same father without having to test the father).

With DNA, some elements are exact, while others are a best approximation. *I was purposely vague in some areas, as I'm semi-active on some of the DNA forums. :ninja2:

i'd be interested in doing it, but there is another company that does the same for like $100 per kit

depends on your gender. if you are a woman then maternal, if you are a boy then paternal. if you have a sibling of the opposite gender you can get them to take the test and combine your results for a more accurate view since the test does not give you full results

as it states on the site

for only one branch $300 is pricey

Wait..they wont use the males dna to do both?

i didnt see this one on that site....

did u do this through african ancestory or somewhere else

I did it through FamilyTreeDNA and 23andme. AA has a new one but it's not like those others I mentioned that have a bunch of other elements (Relative Finder (23)/Family Finder (FTDNA), Health report (23), Racial breakdown (Ancestry Finder@23/Population Finder@FTDNA), Message system between cousins (both, 23's way more extensive), chromosome browser and DNA file that can be used on free DNA tool sites/programs (both). You get both your paternal and maternal haplogroups at 23andme (if you're male, just maternal for females) but you have to buy these separate at FT, despite them being similarly priced.

You get more with 23andMe plus if you do it through 23andme, you can pay a fraction of the price and transfer your results to FamilyTree for full analysis (as if you paid full price). It does not work in the opposite direction, you can't transfer results from FT to 23.
