"Guess who got shot in the dome piece?
Jerome's niece, on her way home
From Jones Beach"

The first time I heard that line I was still a young bul, but I was like :mindblown::krs::whew::leon::ooh::ohhh::gladbron: all at the same time. I had never heard somebody rhyme two syllables back to back to back, with an extra rhyme thrown in the middle like that. Not even Rakim (from what I remember).

It just is man. Lyrics, hooks, beats, flow, everything was there. It's a complete masterpiece. I don't think any of the albums you listed - while classics in their own right- are as good.

I dunno, I think that The Infamous is a darker, hardcore Illmatic, if you catch my drift. Mobb Deep also rapped about the street life and whatnot, they were just darker than Nas.

The production for the most part really created that murky atmosphere, and Prodigy's rapping ability on this album was monsterous (As was Havoc's)

Epic features from Ghostface, Raekwon and Nas, Big Noyd killing every verse he had. The Infamous, like Illmatic, was dope front to back, and it managed to remain cohesive even with it's interludes and tracks like "Drink Away The Pain". The Infamous was a complete, solid album.

Illmatic and The Infamous are tied, quality-wise IMO. Would give Illmatic the nod for the influence, though.

EDIT: Lemmie say that I don't personally believe there is a GOAT album because there's too many genres of music. To say one hip hop album is the best music project of all time is a disservice to classic R&B, rock, house, etc projects. I will say however that as far as hip hop is concerned it should be way up there, and just musically in general it deserves the respect it gets.

I agree with this. :obama:

In what world is RD better in terms of flow? Jay wasn't even on beat sometimes on that shyt, his flow was all over the place. And if you mean lyrics like double meanings and metaphors then yeah, but he wasn't putting words together like Nas, not close.

The World, but from BK
I think sometimes you really have to be around and know about it when the album is first released to get a natural feel for it and appreciate it. Nas vocabulary and the way he was so descriptive without sounding lazy man. To me it straight up describes NYC in the early 90's. Every verse can be pictured.
"Life's a bytch" had lines like:
"when I was young at this, I used to do my thing hard/Robbin' foreigners, take their wallets and jewels, ripping their green cards"

"Memory Lane" is just fukin art.

I dunno, maybe those who weren't around or knew about it when it first came out, can't grasp how it inspired dudes to really focus on real description with wordplay.

This album inspired "Reasonable Doubt"...no sense in comparing them when Jay says this album really inspired him.

You have to understand when you say things like Drake's albums are classics that it disqualifies your opinion from ever being taken serious.

Dude...CrimsonF@ggot thinks that Watch The Throne is the best album of all time :snoop:

His opinion don't mean sh1t. :pachaha:
