At the end of chapter 1 I did an S-Break and one of the bosses died before I could use it. All the other enemies were out of my characters range. Couldn’t use the S-Craft because there was nobody close enough to target anymore and couldn’t cancel it so I was stuck. Had to reset and do the fight over.

I'd say 85% of the main story is voiced in this game. Every now and then there's a part that's not voiced or one where your party members aren't voiced but the characters they're talking to are. Probably the most voiced content in a Trails game ever. Most of the side content isn't voiced.

I put like 10 hours into this and I think I’ll commit to finishing it.

BUT, I gotta say the writing in this series is so overrated by the fans. It’s extremely bad, even in this game. The music is solid but not top tier relative to other JRPGs. The combat is pretty fun though, and clearing out maps and side quests is immersive. Building/Character progression is engaging. The graphics are really nice for an anime style JRPG. Overall though, the writing brings this down a lot man. Super tropey, repetitive, bottom tier anime writing.

This is the gold standard of remakes. Very faithful to the original and whatever changes were made are all are very well done and don’t detract from the original work.

In comparison to say Final Fantasy VII I feel like that should have gone this route. Take the old game and make it modern but not really change all that much.

Final Fantasy VII Remake isn’t really a remake anymore to borrow Evangelion terminology it’s a Rebuild. Uses the original as a base but goes its own way.

I feel like at this point the people who have stayed onboard for that series aren’t necessarily in it to see a remake anymore but so see what new direction it goes in.

Falcom was smart to just give fans what they wanted here.

I don’t think Trails fans rave about the writing. It’s the world building. Trails is anime tropes and the further along the series goes the more it becomes Shonen anime. Cold Steel is full blown giant robot wacky power level harem Shonen anime. Sky is more grounded Seinen which is why more fans gel with it.

Looks like they’re only releasing Second chapter and YS Proud Nordics next year.

We get Horizon 2 and Tokyo Xandu 2 in 2027, I guess.

We? Japan likely but the west shouldn't expect Horizon 2 the same calendar year as Japan so more than likely 2028.

I've been doing some digging into the localization of the remake vs. the OG.

Obviously the translation for the OG is one of the best localizations you have for a JRPG. It's a godsend.

The new game seems to be barely about MTL translations, which makes sense given how quickly it releases compared the Japanese release isn't too surprising. It is not done by Nisa.

Now I am unmotivated to try these remakes anytime soon, tbh. If I play them, it will be off a Japanese copy after my Japanese studies are far enough along.
