Kinda long but ehh-
So I was discussing work with some friends and we got on the topic of older workers being strategically pushed out of their positions. It's crazy seeing how companies don't value their experienced workers. We were noticing how once workers got to be about mid-forties the companies would hire these younger people, in a different position, then have the senior workers train them under the guise of showing them the ropes.
Next thing you know, the older workers job titles changed and their trainees now had their job. The older workers were given less and less responsibility until they were phased out.
Which is messed up because these people are sharp and they know the ins and outs of the business. Not to mention are loyal to the company. Then you have these recent grad who come in and they have zero experience or knowledge of what to do and undercut their pay.
And don't let it be women, I can't tell how many times I've seen and heard of project assistants, administrative assistants, and what not being traded in for younger model.
I guess my friends and all further realized that you have to be on your game and think about yourself. Screw being loyal to a company and make sure you have a plan. We may be young now, but it's not going to be like that forever.
Just had this on my mind. Anyone seen similar?
