Would you prefer that he and the millions like him (or her?/or it?/ or them?) jumped off a building instead? I used to think the same thing as your quote until it was phrased to me from the perspective of suicide prevention. We are dealing with people who despise themselves to such a degree that they are willing to maim themsleves. Letting them wear their dresses and do their surgeries is a fair compromise from a harm reduction standpoint.

I personally draw the line at redifining biology for their benefit or changing the laws affecting everyone else on their behalf, but its harmless to let them just exist and play dress-up.

Also, I think the modern psychological establishment still charactorizes this as a disorder (as opposed to something mundane like a personality type ) so they are very aware of how unatural it is.

at some point when they were put amongst their peers they were either:

• made to feel like a woman
• or made to feel uncomfortable in their own skin

and someone empowered them and said "yeah you're right! you should physically change your appearance to match your current emotional state"
