Paramount and Hasbro has set a group of scribes to join Akiva Goldsman in helping to develop the “Transformers” spinoffs and sequels the studios announced last spring.

Sources tell Variety that “The Walking Dead” creator Robert Kirkman, “Iron Man 3″ writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, “Pacific Rim 2″ scribe Zak Penn and “Amazing Spider-Man 2″ writer Jeff Pinkner will join the writing team for the expanded universe.

Paramount had no comment.

Michael Bay, who directed the last four pics, will produce along with Steven Spielberg, who had also been an exec producer on the franchise. Goldman was previously tasked with setting up the writing room with the goal of developing and writing scripts that would lead to future sequels and standalone films based on the popular franchise.

It’s little surprise Paramount decided to go this route with its lucrative “Transformers” series, with other studios banking on major franchises like the Marvel and DC films, along with the upcoming “Ghostbuster” films as Sony.

Deadline Hollywood first reported the news.

i know there's other versions of the Transformers over the years but they barely managed to make even one decent movie with the main characters how would they make a movie revolving around the Constructacons or the origin of the Aerialbots. IF they could do it properly i would want to see a Cybertron war movie but it would have to be 100% CGI i don't think it could work.
