I started androgen blockers (anti androgen) at 13 when I was supposed to produce male hormones. I then got on estrogen. There are many like myself who did not go through the "advantage" traits. But I am 5 ft 11 so my size may give me some pull over a petite woman. I'm not sure because I don't fight.

i saw the Real Sports report on this MAN, and HE shouldn't be allowed to fight women. it's stupid.

just because you're transgender doesn't mean your fukkin bones are suddenly a female's bones...no matter how your hair looks, what genitals you have and how your voice sounds.

this is pathetic. get this person in the ring with Ronda then.

The amount of bigotry in this thread is annoying. Thread is close to being locked.

Not that I actually think that trans should be in the same competition as biological women, but this thread is a joke and pathetic.

If you don't like the thread...then don't come in, there is a thought. Stop regulating people's viewpoint. Dry Snitching and Chatty Patties.

I don't think Fox should be allowed to fight other women. I'm all for transgender rights, but her advantage is unfair, she is bigger, stronger and tougher than most women can hope to be.

Do you feel like most men could beat you in the ring?

I have no problem with that thread. I only have a problem with people being disrespectful to other human beings. One can express his disagreement without being insulting and that what I meant by "bigotry" : people being disrespectful. But I should have said "disrespect" instead which was more accurate.

There are more vile and putrid things people say about human life that has never protected or even addressed by the mods. Celebration of deaths and talks of revenge on whole nations. Hell the comments made when people are negged is disgusting with threats.

This is "Higher Learning" and people make no effort to hide their hate and prejudice for the trans community... #LowerLearning
I saw this post and wanted to address it, because it brings up an interesting discussion. I'm definitely an ally of the LGBT community, and I support anyone that wants to make a physical change to match how they feel inside. There are people that truly feel trapped in the body of the wrong sex, and I hope there's more acceptance for them as society moves forward. I believe there will be.

As far as this particular issue, I am torn. I've been involved in combat sports and MMA since 1999, and in martial arts period since the late 80's/early 90's. There's a reason that male and female MMA fighters are put in different divisions. And even though Fallon Fox is a woman, she was born a man. She lived a large part of her life with a larger bone structure, a larger muscle to bone ratio, etc. I do have some safety concerns about her fighting in a ring or a cage with a woman that has lived her entire life as a woman. I'm not saying I'm not cool with it, but it should be allowed to be discussed. For those of us that do combat sports and MMA, it's an important issue to figure out.

Fallon Fox should be allowed to participate in sport and have just as much right as anyone to do so. having her in a men's division is clearly not the solution, as she's not a man. But we do have to admit there are more safety issues with Fox fighting other women than there are when 2 women that have been women their whole lives are fighting each other. MMA and sport science professionals much smarter than me have been concerned about Fallon Fox for a while now. Joe Rogan and Ronda Rousey have also discussed it.

I don't think it's transphobic to have this discussion. Because this isn't a sport like basketball or baseball. The entire goal of MMA is based on using your body to damage another person's body until that person gives up or can no longer continue, or time runs out. Other sports there is physical contact for sure, but it's secondary to the goals of those sports. Combat sports inherently involve using your body as a weapon, and if your body is a bigger/stronger more powerful weapon, there are some concerns there, no? I mean it;s the same reason we have weight classes. Size in a fight matters. A small person can beat a big person easily if they have training, but two equally skilled people? Size and strength is huge!

I will say that her opponent signed up knowing damn well what she got into, and I do think Fox should be allowed to fight in women's divisions. If people don't want to fight her they don't have to. Her opponent knew the risks and fought. But I think the general public deserves a little more leeway on the "transphobic" label when it comes to combat sports.

Excellent post and I mostly agree. But read through the thread and you'll see people throwing around slurs, calling trans people "it," etc. that is transphobic, not having a reasoned discussion (as your post did) about the implications of Fox fighting.

Honestly, would you say you are stronger than the average woman? (no troll literally i'm just curious)
There are a couple videos on wshh and youtube of biological women beating up trans women literally bloody. Same as men beating up trans women. All are not physically strong.
I agree completely being a man does not instantly mean you can beat up a woman, I've seen plenty of women jack up men, particularly in grappling, not ashamed to say there's this black belt at my gym who whoops my ass on a regular and she's a girl, but in a combat sports setting it is clearly an advantage that can't be ignored.
