Trap music is wack now. The shyt is gonna be played out by 2020 bet. Every nikka that raps on a trap beat got a flow derivative of the Migos and the pool of good producers in the genre is so small that all the beats sound the same. By comparison trap aint as popular as the gangsta rap period from the early 90s-mid 00s. The lyrics aint there either. The bar is set mad low and any bumass nikka off the streets can get on a soundcloud beat and get clout. This wont last.

After hearing that Offset Monday authentic Trap from the southeast ain't goin nowhere:wow:all these lame ass rap nikkas from everywhere else need to cut it out though. Authentic Trap is very cultural. If you're not cut from a certain cloth or not from the southeast then you just won't fully understand it.

I think that's the issue. They have no respect for the art. There used to be a balance of money/art.

All the greats were/are about their paper....but still had a respect for the craft. Of the new guys, J Cole and Kendrick "get it"....I even think Drake "gets it"....whether he's doing all the work or not. At least he understands that you can't just put out garbage.

And no matter how much dudes like Jay act like rap was just a hustle for him, he has respect and a love for the craft.

These new dudes don't have that. Mainly because the suits putting them on have no respect for the craft.
Nah rap was just a hustle for Jay. Stop moving the goal posts just because you like him

As a whole the rap genre is getting stale to me. The trap beats literally haven't changed for the past 5 years. That's when you know you have reallllll stagnation. Like Meek mills new songs should have been released 2 years ago. The Migos album is cool but it could have been released 2 years ago. In fact any trap song could have been released years ago and would have sounded like it fit in that time period. Some bay area acts have caught my attention but other than that....:yeshrug:
