If you've haven't been following current events, Brazil recently elected the 'Trump of South America' in Jair Bolsonaro... former part of the military during their dictatorship. They recently got out of a recession, but are dealing w/ super high rates of crime. Dude basically galvanized people through xenophobic / populist / racist / misogynistic rhetoric like Trump... also wants to expand the reign of the already corrupt Brazilian police to kill suspected 'criminals' with impunity.


I've been to Rio twice... was dope both times. Copa/Ipanema is the GOAT beach. I have two friends from college down there so I've always been straight out there despite speaking little Portuguese. Now I'm like...



May just stick with Carib, Costa Rica and Colombia... but curious what other brehs on here think.

Just go to Colombia brehs the women are beautiful and it is way less dangerous. Colombian style food is kinda meh and you really need to speak Spanish to get by.

I've heard stories of robbings in broad daylight in public places in Colombia too tho, but from what I'm hearing Brazil's crime rate is through the roof lately
