In the highly black areas of recife and salavdor in the northeast of brazil people are cool even if your portuguese is horrible...as long as u trying to learn people will laugh at u but they understand.. but if u sit up and try to make fun of it then it's a problem..
my portuguese is horrible as fuk.. but as long as i have my translation on my phone i get by... just study the basic and u'll be cool or stay around the tourist areas and u'll be straight
