Artist fatigue is real... The next Kendrick album will do numbers

Very impressive numbers.

The album was packaged with tour tickets, which greatly helped. Travis is very good live too, which is essential to building a sustainable fanbase. Migos and Future depend on hits, and when they don't have the hits their popularity wanes. We're seeing this right now with both of them. Both are also constantly doing club shows instead of trying to expand their tour potential.

This summer is interesting: two major tours will feature artists with drastically different show quality. J Cole is great live, and he's going to blow Thugger out the water nightly. Drake is decent live and he's going to blow Migos out the water nightly. Both Thugger and Migos aren't really built for arena/stadium tours, nor do they value themselves as artists enough to hone their craft and give fans something dope to hear/SEE.

Drake live > Cole live

I’ve seen both. Drake is more engaging with the crowd, moves around the stage more and has higher production values and ofc his music keeps the energy high during the whole show

Future sucks live but he was great during summer 16. He was very active on stage, fully rapped all his songs, and even hit a two step with his dancers in spots

I don’t know if Drake required him to take performing more seriously or what.

So there may be hope for Migos and Thug

if drake did that the y'all wouldn't count his sales. Drake would probably do 3m with that tactic. Do you know how many of these people buy ovo merch. Sheesh. Mans don't even need to rap no more
Drake would be smart to use this tactic because 25 song albums ain’t cutting it for him

Damn.

I must be out of touch cuz those numbers imply that he's wayyyy bigger than future and Migos put together.
He is and has been from day one bigger than anyone in his field on a core base level. Travis connected with his audience in a way reminiscent of the past, he's pushing full bodies of work. He doesn't rely on hits for relevance. Migos are more popular but they don't have the same core base support so they will have bigger singles not albums. There's like less than 10% of the games artists currently that draw with albums and not hit singles. Travis cracked that upper echelon.

Speak for yourself fam. Been a fan of dude since OG OP:martin:

And of course high sales = high cacs buying it. They like 60% of the pop and actually buy shyt instead of illegally downloading. If you a mainstream artist you appeal to everyone but especially fools who you know actually buy your shyt. I know hella black folk that fukk with Travis. He got a big white fan base but that aint a bad thing for his brand. nikka never claimed to be some hood trapper slanging dope.
