Them damn joints can pop up outta nowhere. I hate when I'm at work and a warning is out. I rather be at home with the wife & kids just in case something happens. And they definitely go crazy down south
Tray Chaney, the actor who played “Poot” on The Wire and Kendrick on Saints and Sinners, lost his house in a tornado 🌪. Son is in critical condition.

This was too close to home, plus this is the second time we didn't get a tornado warning on the apps, although I did hear the siren. But in this case, I don't think the siren even sounded in time, not for the residents where the tornado struck. Although it didn't make the news, a tornado went right down my street back in April 2021, with no warnings either. At least I think it was 2021...and it wasn't even raining. I just remember outta nowhere, this real strong wind blasted by, bending the two trees in my front yard the way I've never seen them bent before. The next day, I drove down the street, and saw trees broken near the stump, and bent over stop signs. I asked the next person I saw what had happened, and they said it was a tornado. I didn't believe it, because it didn't make the news. But now, I'm leaning more towards the possibility that it may have been one, after what happened Thursday, plus I got a new roof from that incident, although there was already a little damage before that tornado, again if it was a tornado.
When I first moved here, most of the severe weather was happening north of the city. But lately, more and more of the severe weather seems to be hitting south of the city. This must be the third or fourth tornado warning Henry County had this season. I was starting not to take this siren but so serious, especially since I didn't get a warning on my app the last time, and nothing usually happens. But man was I wrong. and I had not too long ago drove past that section of 75 where the tornado crossed. And during that tornado siren in April, I had just left to grab a bite right before it went off around 8 or 9pm that night. I recently found out that tornado actually touched down, and it was a F0. In other words, I nearly drove right into that one. But since I got no app alerts, I assumed the siren was a system malfunction, plus there was only a level 1 threat for severe weather that day. Actually, the severe weather threat for Thursday was only at a level 1 as well, or perhaps a level 2. Anyway, I believe that storm cloud Thursday actually passed over my subdivision, before it landed on 75, and it turned into an F2 tornado. That's probably why I felt that sudden heavy windy down pour, that didn't last too long. These incidents seem to be coming too close to home lately, especially this season, and as a result, I've never been this serious about moving away from here. I really don't wanna be in this area by next spring, or anywhere near next spring.
I feel for "The Wire" actor Tray Chaney, and especially his son. I pray that he pulls through. I understand he was upstairs in his bedroom when the tornado hit. If there had been a warning issued, I'm sure they would have made it to a safer spot in the house, perhaps even a safe room if they had one. Although it's better to have a safe room, where are you gonna go, if your car gets damaged to the point you can't drive it, or if you can't drive out of your subdivision because of too much debri in the street. I'd rather be away from home altogether. But it's still nothing better than having that safe room, in case you wait too late to evacuate, the way I did during that 2011 Super Outbreak, when that F3 tornado in Henry County went on to do that damage, and killed two people down in Griffin. It just missed us after it formed in Hampton, causing my lights to blink, and my directv to lose it's signal. That storm had me holding my dog in the closet, praying...who was just a minute ago, dropping his ball in front of me, trying to play. Btw, this was that same storm that left over 300 people dead, mostly in Alabama. If you ask me, my move is probably overdue due.
Speaking of safe rooms, everybody in the Atlanta metro should consider getting one, since these level 1 and 2 severe weather threats keep turning into bigger and bigger tornados, not giving us time to decide whether to evacuate.
Again, I hope and pray that Tray Chaney's son pulls through.

Wow, I just read that Tray Chaney grew up in Forestville. MD., the city in PG I moved from. Did he follow me here. On a real note, I didn't think anybody else in Henry County was from the DMV but one or two people. Takinbout close to home
