Thats the point of sliding...so they dont. The only alternative in your scenario is to just get hit.
Exactly but it should be done earlier, for the sake of your own health. You can see that he wanted to get the 1st so much that he slid late. If he already had the down, he would’ve likely slidden earlier.

All I’m saying is that new QBs run around like they’re a princess, and can’t be touched. Even if it’s dirty, or just a pure mistake, it’s risky to slide so late in regards to your own health

Eh.

Lawrence could have went down faster

Aziz also dove for no fukking reason considering Lawrence was already sliding when he left his feet
Thats the chickenshyt I talk about, but there isnt a SINGLE defender that will attempt to wrap and bring down an AJ Brown on the perimeter, but become Billy Badass when it comes to missiling HEADFIRST towards a diving QB.

Ive seen a LOT of refs let incidental contact go as long as a defender DOESNT attempt stupid shyt like the Kiko Alonso shyt trying to take off the head.

You dont lead with your forearm on a below the waste hit. He was aiming for his head. You wanna say "Its football...man up etc" cool. But we cant act like that wasn't intentional.

So thats the issue here and you are entitled to it. We dont have to create things. If your only option is to slide and 99% of players will let up if you do or just go for it an remove any safeguards there is no way the former is riskier.

You don’t tackle leading with your forearm unless you are trying to knock someone’s head off.

Also when the qb is running straight at you, you know they are going to slide. You only dive to try and hit them some on the way down.

It's a new era I guess.
I didn't think it was a dirty hit at all.

Just bad timing.
The NFL used to have tougher hits than that. And it wasn't that long ago.

Hell, ESPN had a "jacked up" segment like 10 years ago.

Speaking of which :patrice:, I had noticed some years back that "Jacked Up" was discontinued after the death of Daryl Stingley (who was paralyzed as a result of a "Jacked Up" hit from Jack Tatum).
