I don't think whether the chicken or the egg comes first matters (who initiates the conversation).
The Republicans are at ground level with their conversation and concerns. The people they speak to are at ground level. It works.
Democrats don't do that for the most part (until recently with Bernie Sanders and AOC). They have a messaging problem. Also, the left wing media isn't as extensive as the opps in 2025.
It's widely agreed that the Democrats have fewer tentacles spreading their message AND that the messaging is lackluster.
So do Democrats
The difference is one appeals to grievance and the other appeals to policy positions
And when voters don’t respond to policy what even good is formulating a message outside of the bare minimum

I'm not a fan of fear mongering but it's obvious that the collective IQ of US citizens is in the trash - so you have to tailor your messaging to reach them.
The collective IQ of US citizens is indeed in the trash. Democrats underestimated on how many millions of Americans are truly dumb. It feels like they were banking in on the idea that "there was no way America would be stupid to vote him again". They should have spent far more effort in finding a way how to speak to the dumber and fill the social media channels with their own message,
Instead social media was filled with far right wing talking points before the elections, whether it was elon musk spreading massive propaganda or zuckerberg media or google media such as youtube also massively promoting far right bullshyt. I've tested that shyt with various IP addresses of different states on incognito mode with all suggestions turned off, and I could see more right wing content suggested by default than democratic.

Democrats have to stop looking to talk down on people and instead.. meet them where they are at. Republicans have gotten that part right and it's proven to be a war winning strategy.
Empathize with people, feel! for peoples plight, share in their troubles and trauma, and ONLY THEN can you provide a route to prosperity or better times.
