There's an agenda by the radio stations to only play certain shyt, the reason why some of these tweeners (backpack/street) or "unclassified" rappers don't get any burn. DJ's and radio personalities realize all too well that they are the tastemakers, if they play a song 100 times the chances of gaining fans off that record is enormous. They can say "well we just play what's popular, and our ratings will fall off if we start playing different shyt" but like @NV-ME said, it's not hard to throw one song from these so called "dictionary rappers" on, they do make some quality music that you don't need a rapgenius to break down.

In response to this thread, T James just saying what he feels is right, and what [some] of us are thinking, NY isn't as prominent as it once was, and its a direct reflection of the type of music they're making. They're either southern implants or tryna be on some nostalgia early 2000's type of rap, with no sound of growth.

Maino still acting like a he a teenager on the block though :usure: that's a discussion for another thread

The very reasons you stated before are the reasons NY so called fell off or don't have an "identity" anymore. Granted they don't support their own, but the music industry itself is all about making the money. And since the art form and talent of Hip Hop no longer makes the money, they're going to sign/play any Pinokio that comes up with a catchy gimmick. And again, as Hip Hop fans, Hip Hop as a whole is being phased out, yet it's being used to promote these white folk and their products. And all we do is add more division amongst one another. And all we do is, react and "ooohh Trinidad James said" or insert rapper here said. When we should start doing sh*t to change that. But we won't. We'll just continue to give this fool his 15 minutes.

Ebro speaks the truth about this.. these so called lyracist out here dont know how to convey any emotion into their records other than pretending to be tough. Thats why the south blew up, their records sound like they had fun making them, if a so called real hip hop type of rapper can make a song that actually sounds like he had fun making while still being lyrical, it would get more play.

Hot 97 has been portrying a farse

stop tryna to bring validity to there company

They re wolves in sheeps clothing

Talk that "realness," but, they play the same playlist as everyione else cause they're bosses say so

They are not an ally to HipHop culture

Ebbro is a program director pretending to be one of the guys to control the narrative--one sent by the head wolves smh

The point isnt that there isnt good music being made, what he is saying is NY artists or artists that are not from the south dont know how to make music that the average person will want to hear in the club or at a party. in the 90's the party and club songs were balanced, you had lyrics and you had a good beat to dance to. This era of artists cant seem to bridge the gap, I like lyrics to but if you cant make a song that speaks to the non hip hop head you will never get play anywhere outside of peoples iPods. Like it shouldnt be hard to find a good artist, but most of these dudes like a skyzoo, or action bronson or whoever you are going to say is dope you have to listen to them like you are studying for a test. they make good chill music or good agressive content, but where are the upbeat songs that you would want to hear while you are out partying? :stopitslime: this aint poetry, this is music there should be something else about these dudes that grab my attention other than their lyrics.
You do know every nyc rapper that became a star got their start making the underground happy NOT radio or females. I watched ALL of them come up using college radio, late night mixshows, and hood clubs where the nikkas got rowdy, the ladies loved them type of nikkas, THEN the radio NEEDED to play thwir music They may have had a few songs for them but they mainly wanted to make hip hop music listeners happy. Tdying to appeal to everyone and be the shyt before you get credit from those that listen to your shyt at home, in the ride, or in the train is what killed nyc rap. You are in the club once in a while, so why juat make music for that?. Have ever wondered why you have so many one hit wonders?. They make club songs all the time. Guys need to take pride in making music that WE like then get women or radio to come to us. It's called being a real man and being hip hop.

:what: you can't be serious. I'm not defending nyc, but the south is still in the Stone Age when it comes to fashion. nikkas is still rocking labels and true religion. nikkas down south have zero swag when it comes to fashion. Their whole style is nikka rich shyt lacking any kind of class.
