The last part of my OP is basically reiterating the message Punk had in the podcast about how a win over Triple H at that moment in time on the mid-card of Wrestlemania does nothing to elevate CM Punk as a superstar. What's the point? It's just something for Triple H to say, "see, I gave you your win back" even though it was meaningless.

That point is a strike against HHH but also a strike against the whole creative team. With 50/50 booking and the amount of free shyt they put out on TV, I don't think Punk could have possibly gotten elevated even with going over on the last match. Who could he have beaten that would have made a difference besides maybe ending The Undertaker's streak but you covered him already

Look through your own link after the Curtain Call. He was just taking losses to Marc Mero on the house show circuit, which isn't very surprising as Mero just debuted & was getting pushed at that time anyway. Plus it's house shows where the babyface usually always goes over. The only jobs he probably wouldn't have done at that time anyway were to Barry Windham. He wasn't losing to Tracy Smothers
