Because trying to save everything for Mania/A stadium show is how we end up missing out on piff matches.

Roman vs Jacob
Roman vs Seth hasn’t happened in 3 years
Roman vs Gunther
Roman vs Orton never had their 1 v 1
Roman vs Lashley we missed out on

Punk vs Cody been teased two straight years
Punk vs Roman
Punk vs Gunther
Punk vs KO

Seth vs Gunther
Seth vs Cody World Title Match

Cody vs Orton
Cody vs Jacob
Cody vs Gunther world title match

Cena vs Gunther

Jacob vs Bron
AJ vs Bron
AJ vs Gunther

Gunther vs Lesnar we missed out on
Etc.

That’s just off the dome, Not even including all of the possible multi man matches they could have. Didn’t even mention Jey, Drew, LA Knight, etc. who could all also be plugged in with the very top guys.

I think that's caused by the combo of over packing their schedule a bit (Backlash is next week, with a Saturday Night's Main Event two weeks after that, with Money in the Bank two weeks after that), wanting to keep the PPVs limited to six matches max, and wanting nearly every storyline to be a long running slow burn.

It's almost like they've tried to take the prime MCU approach to writing where EVERYTHING has to be about leaving breadcrumbs for the most dedicated fans to point back to and say "THEY WERE TEASING THIS FOR YEARS," overlooking the fact that they're asking viewers to tune in multiple times per week for TV, and 12-15 time for the special events. As long as you're not going back to the old 2010s style of running rematches ad nauseum, you can afford to burn some of these matchups for the occasional standard PPV.

It's the luxury of being in the middle of a hot/peak period though. When people are showing up and tuning in no matter how bland or slow the weekly booking is, you can afford to play the long for maximum profit on big shows.

I honestly have no idea if there's a real need to change that approach, beyond some fans just being tired of it after 3 years if the same thing. I'm also under the impression that even with this booking philosophy they still miss out on a bunch of marquee matches, so there's definitely a middle ground that can be achieved.

Funnily enough, this seems like a perfect situation to have a round robin tournament once a year to make some of those matches happen, give TV a nice change up and don't really mess with the long term feuds they have.

lol this reminds me of the time when Riddle said that he can beat up Roman in real life. And they asked him to apologize and Randy was like don’t apologize to anybody’s ass you could whoop.

I wonder if they throw anything in July with MITB in early June and SS in early August. Unless they use the time inbetween to properly build up the card since it's a two night event.

I was just thinking what the sentiment would be if they did split ple again. Of course then again that may not work with them doing more of an international expansion and not wanting to keep away some of their stars. Won't be surprised if the International ones get the better matches since that's more of their focus vs the US ones like backlash and main event, which is more of a tv special anyways.

Breh makes a great point about Laveck's inability to build wrestlers outside of just wrestling--again, the Black & Gold era is a gift and a curse.

His best point; That TLC match the other week was better than anything on WrestleMania...they are ghost on TV. And I heard Friday's episode was trash.

Then, if they (any wrestler) ain't getting over--it's the talent's fault.
