Austin joining Vince made sense storyline wise. He was out for a year and had to watch Rock take his spot and watch Triple H gain ground on him as well. On top of that he took a clean L to Triple H at No Way Out and now his confidence is shattered. He felt like had no choice but to join Vince to get his spot back at the top.

It was the SECOND heel turn at Invasion that was stupid and made no sense.

I'm glad you mentioned the first turn, because people act like it was random and made no sense. I believe the 2nd turn happened because they couldn't get HOEgan & Goldberg to come in since they were getting paid a lot to sit at home.
