Came in here to say that. He should have passed out (i.e.. never giving up) instead of showing that shyt eating grin and tapping lightly like he's trying to wake his dad up from a nap. Cena doing Cena things to not put over the moment.

Also, probably knit picking, but the person that should have been his final opponent is Dom Mysterio since he's not only a decade younger than Gunther is, but him retiring Cena and eventually his father would (hopefully) elevate him to a Main Event spot vs. being tied down to whatever the hell JD is now.

I gotta disagree. Once I heard that Cena hasn't tapped in over 20 years, I knew that had to be the finish. A pass out kinda loses it's effectiveness with that in mind.

Plus they booked GUNTHER as UBER GUNTHER now. This is like when Brock beat Taker, the only logical conclusion is that Brock had to Squash Cena at SUMMERSLAM. If they want to keep this keyfabe alive, then that means Brock and Roman must be squashed because of UBER GUNTHER.

If they don't, then this match was for nothing.

Then again this is normal booking psychology, not WWE, and while this match should establish GUNTHER, at the same time there is a acceptable vibe that WWE won't be able to capture the moment.
