That all businesses but they're playing a dangerous game. I think they believe Tony is going to continue to overpay for everyone, but Tony could switch up and overpay for people the WWE really wants to keep. That's the advantage of wrestling not having a salary cap.
Tony's already shown he's gonna put a restriction on himself and not go stupid. Back in 2022 when KO, Sami and a few others re-signed a bunch of reports indicated AEW wasn't gonna spend hard until their next TV deal was in the works and the budget opened up. That aligned with the timing on Ospreay, Mone and Okada.

They'll always push the market where it needs to go but I don't see them overpaying for the sake of it to get one over on TKO. That's the type of nonsense that sends you down the WCW wormhole and takes away from what their focus should be (and has been lately) lower scale swings and using their platform to build those people up.

I agree that it's all businesses but I don't see Coke complaining about advantages that Pepsi has or vice versa. WWE has a mountain of advantages themselves. It's a company that has been around since the 1940s. It's a company that has been synonymous with the word "wrestling" since 2001 when WCW closed up shop. They had a stranglehold on American wrestling and a footprint in most of the world.

That's cool too... they absolutely should play into that advantage. But the whole "woe is me, a billionaire is spending crazy money on talent" is some sucker shyt. TKO has a damn large market cap. They can spend plenty of money on talent, they just don't want to because of their year end bonuses and to keep the shareholders happy and to try to shave off the debt they are carrying.

Nick Khan said that Tony Khan also "doesn't have to make a profit" and complained about that but Tony Khan did make AEW a profitable company since last year.

Ask the wrestlers themselves if they are happy that AEW exists and Tony is paying people. Of course they are happy. Only an idiot would want a monopoly in the career that they've chosen. You need to be able to pit companies against each other to drive up the salaries.

Cena know what he doing :mjlol: lol...

“I’ve been doing this for 23 years, and I’ve never once chosen my opponent,” said Cena in an interview with Justin Barrasso of Boston Herald. “I’ve always lived by the philosophy that life will give you opportunities every single day, and you have to do the best you can every single day with what life gives you. So whoever challenges me for that last match, I’m going to give it my best shot.”

Playing the victim over the competition spending money is something Vince was doing 30 years ago. It's ingrained in WWE culture and it's part of the weird "canon" they have over their version of wrestling history :heh:

HitGOAT deserves better. fukk Triple H.

It doesn’t seem that the current management regime at WWE appreciates Bret Hart based on their recent actions toward him at SummerSlam.

WWE Hall of Famer Bret “The Hitman” Hart recently appeared on stage at Vaughan Con. During the discussion, Hart revealed that the company invited him to SummerSlam earlier this month to sit in the crowd, but upon arriving was told they didn’t have any seats for him to sit in.

“I went to SummerSlam. They invited me down this year for WWE and told me they wanted me to be in the crowd,” Bret Hart said. “Then they told me, once I got there, that they didn’t have any seats. But I noticed that Kevin Nash got a seat. So I just sort of know — I don’t feel that WWE — I mean, I finally realized that they don’t fully appreciate me. Even after Hulk’s passing that there’s no appreciation for anything I did.”

Nick Khan has been the one mentioning Tony Khan the most and I don't get what the deal is with that. I remember Nick Khan saying it was "unfair" that Tony Khan can spend whatever he wants on talent so to me this is about talent contracts.

TKO are cheap b*stards. They don't pay UFC fighters shyt and they don't have to. With AEW existing, it drives up talent contracts which Nick Khan hates because then it affects their bottom line. They want more revenue while paying talent less.

i don't see TK signing just anyone that has left WWE. what WWE needs to worry about is maintaining their top talent, especially the young ones. guys like Bron and Dom, both who are second generation superstars with family ties to the company. as well as top guys in nxt like Trick and Oba. of course there are high level top guys like Cena and Reigns that would be crazy if they signed, of course no Punk fiasco, but very unlikely with both either retiring or slowing down their appearances.

problem is WWE is tied down by TKO cuz they got more mouths to feed instead of just the WWE bubble. and its not regarding UFC but all the TKO execs. its like in Breaking Bad when Mike was dividing up the money and had to pay his guys with part of the profits. thats WWE having to pay TKO. so I can see why Nick Khan is upset.
