:gucci: I can't process this level of stupidity....
I can. They didn't want to pay all those dates and thought they could juice ticket sales by having him sparingly show up (most of his appearances with no hype anyway). I recall last year when Cena announced it, he said he would be doing a full schedule, including house shows, so that was probably the plan at some point. Or at least he thought it was. I've seen him talking about not having enough time to make the stuff he's doing this year mean what it needs to mean, so it seems clear he's aware it has been a botched bullshyt run as well.

Isn't Jade the champ? How she get involved with Alba Fyre? Didn't even know she still worked there. Must've been mixing her up with the other girl that got released.

they could've had damn near full time Cena and passed :mindblown:

are they stupid

From what Cena said, in the beginning, he wanted to do 220 dates, but he was ignorant to how the business works now. They barely do house shows anymore, so if he was just doing RAW and SmackDown each week with PPVs, that would be 100+ dates. He was also planning to take the year off from acting and be back on the road full-time, but I don't know how that would have affected his projects if he can't do any press runs for an entire year.

There's also the possibility of him getting injured, especially with his age, and he would have needed more time to get back into ring shape. He's been candid about how much he's had to prepare for matches this year, so I don't think his body would have held up on a full-time schedule.

More and more, we're finding out the heel turn was a horrible idea and should have never been attempted. Cena literally didn't have the time to make it work, and they couldn't figure out a proper ending, so they just had him cut a promo saying he wasn't a heel anymore. The retirement tour was a great idea and had some great moments (mostly after he turned back face), but it was the first full year of the TKO takeover, so the tour was a casualty of that.

Senior Cena is right, though. In this specific case. Gunther has been the most dominant heel since he's been on any roster (UK, NXT, main) since he's joined the company except when Brock is around to play cowboy. He can not be made any more than he already is. A win over Cena doesn't do anything for him (he also just did this same thing with Goldberg a couple of months ago), a loss doesn't do anything for either.

Cena's also going to wrap up this final year at about a 50% win rate. Prior to that, I don't think he had won a singles televised match since 2018. Having his last match go down against a guy who can't be made any more than he is, and probably losing, isn't fun. Send him out either jobbing to a young heel on the cusp of breaking out, or a face in the similar situation, or a young guy that can be made a star in a loss. There are probably a dozen guys that can work Cena in this spot and make him look amazing and pull what the Bucks did for Sting in his last match that isn't a guy that has already been dominating for 6 years including the top of the card.

Causality of 50/50 booking is; Jade and Alba ARE on the same level.

She beat Naomi at WrestleMania....then proceeded to do nothing of note until the QofTheRing and lost clean to the champ.

Naomi wins MITB AND cashes in and has a over gimmick.
