Brooklyn the planet...
I remember Troy Ave way back in 2003 when he used to do open mic showcases. He even came to one of mine when I used to them back in the day. He been around for a second and he even had a deal around 2007 or so and release one single which was on rotation on rap city. Duke been around for a hot second.
With that said, his attitude is without merit. I don't like over confidence without putting in work. Nergo you not selling records, you not in the same circles as Joey, you're not touring. Going from one night club to the next ain't a tour. Free styling from phone is what's popping in the streets? Just cause he crass and has a I don't give a fukk attitude he cool?
Lastly, I'm a Brooklyn nikka. I've been in fort Greene/ Clinton hill area my whole life. I'm sick of this one way thinking people have. Hip hop was once diverse. You had Q tip working with Mobb Deep. Mobb Deep didn't think Q tip was weirdo, he had hot beats and could rap and to be honest at the time, a bigger star than them and they got creative and worked on making great music. It doesn't have to be one or the other. Troy trying the 50 cent route but 50 had a machine, a planet and army behind him. NY rappers should be working together and help uplift. Not this bullshyt.
Lastly, whatever your opinion on suicide, it's still sad. Losing the will to live is serious and shouldn't be shamed or laughed at. A talented brother is gone. He needed help. Everyone needs a little help. That's the problem with the community. We are taught to suppress emotions and "man up" whatever the fukk that means. It's ok to emote. It's ok to feel. Animals have fukking feelings. Steez was a good dude and a great rapper who was using his pain to drive his music. I can relate. And so young. It's crazy. Troy is a sucka and a fakkit for that.
