I think the "if you're a hater I'm shytting on you" part holds the song back a little. The whole obsession with "haters" is a bit of an urban thing. The song is catchy enough to appeal to people from different walks of life, but they aren't going to sing along to that part because they don't get it.
They should keep pushing the song, it's the best commercial look Troy will ever get. I could see this song being played during NBA commercials and things of that nature. There's money to be made off the song even if it doesn't hit in the club (no pun intended).
