Disgusting and cowardly, but also dumb on their part. Would have made sense to wait until after the election because I guarantee the next guy is going to play no games. But I guess when your imaginary friend says it's time to attack, it's time to attack.

Not really dumb. Merkel was going to more than likely lose to a far right candidate. Other major Western powers already went right and plan on going harder on Muslims and immigrants.

Merkel knows this which is why she started supporting a burqa ban to look more right for reelection. If these guys wanna go hard they aren't really losing much(besides their lives). From a strategic standpoint it's not a bad decision.
