I got slightly confused when she referred to him as her "EX-husband". Do we know for sure that they're still actually living together in the 1990 scenes? I think so, but I'm not sure that they actually confirmed it. Could they be separated?

She said that because as she told him, she was going to play a character. She laid out the plan for him in the car and he went along with it. Play sexy, smart, vulnerable, and attainable and the cops would tell her everything.

Men are suckers for women they're tryna fukk. She played that cop exactly like she laid out .

Hays issue is that this excites her while it torments him. He hasn't even read her book

That director switch from the first 2 episodes was hella noticeable. And this guy is pose' to do the next 5? Ali's acting is making up for a lot but this shyt is moving slow even for True Detective's standards.

I really dont know what the hell is going on this season, the exposition is terrible. And the timeline jumps are jarring, because Ali looks the same in 1980 and 1990 except his hair is shorter in 90. the white boy dectective looks exactly the same in both timelines.

that brown car issue could be a red herring too, I don't think they are necessarily the cult/killers what have you, but they obviously KNOW something..

Ten years difference isn't that noticeable assuming they're both about 30 in 1980 and 40 in 1990.

But we should be talking more about how Ali with the Wesley cut looks like Marvel found their next Blade without even looking for it.
