True Detective - Season 3 (Jan. 13th/Official Thread)

Just started this on the weekend and season 1 is pretty good so far. But judging from the consensus in here y'all are saying season 2 is trash. Is it worth watching after I finish season 1 or should I jump to season 3?

One thing I haven't seen people comment on are Elisa's ulterior motives. After this episode it should be clear she's specifically targeting Wayne to reveal the truth about the Harris James disappearance. My guess is they already found his corpse and are now trying to confirm it was Wayne who killed him, possibly to tie up loose ends from the cult's side.

She obviously hasn't told him, plus she might have been fukking him to hold it against him if he tries to stir something up.

Roland could just be a dude who really values his personal space...but I wouldn't be surprised if his gay.

Not that surprised at the Lucy reveal.

Season isn't better than 1, but that will always be a tough act to follow. But so far I like it way more then 2.

season one is like most rappers first albums. the creator worked on that shyt for years and had time to nail it. Then 2nd and 3rd album come out they don't have same amount time to put in. Well usually thats the case for 2nd album and 3rd album they do.

I was listening to a podcast today man white people are fukked up. the panel on the show couldn't even tell the black dude with the fukked eye yellin at the book signing was a different dude than the guy they questioned. on that all blacks look alike shyt.

I heard a good theory is Roland in on the cover up too is Roland moist too remember tom yelling at him like you know me.

is Wayne playing dumb and really can remember but is trying to get people to expose what they know?

Roland isn’t gay, I have no clue how you got that idea, the man was banging women, he was checking out women at the funeral and dated one for 7 years over a 10 year period.
As for the personal space , do you think he earned the money to afford a place like that or maybe the Hoyt family paid him off years earlier to look the other way?

Also their dead granddaughter was probably kidnapped too. Hoyts have everyone on their payroll including the mom and have probably been stealing kids for a while.

So what exactly are they gonna do for two more episodes

I don't know if he's gay or not...and I certainly doubt it will be crucial to the story going forward if he is...but I certainly see why people are coming to that conclusion. He had that very weird sit down with Tom...he's got a very weird rapport with that dude in general. Got Tom requesting him by name at the station and shyt...When they played him the tape of Julie he was like "Lt West? Roland?" Like he knew him personally. Plus Roland started actin very strange and nervous when Hays wanted to go canvassing the gay bars. He really didn't want Hays lookin' into that shyt at all. Wouldn't even drop him off. Then something happened with that girl he was dating for 10 years with a 2 year break. Why didn't he marry her...what happened that made them break up and have Roland living alone. No Woman...no kids. When they had the Morgan Freeman moment on Rolands porch as old nikkas he was like when Hays asked if he ever got married. Maybe Hays finds out about him in the 90s...Unanswered questions that will likely get answered in the next episodes.
