True/False: College basketball in the 90's was on par with (or BETTER than) college football?

College basketball in the 80s-90s was FLAMES

Just incredible.

NBA future pros staying all four years as seniors :wow:

Patrick Ewing at Georgetown
Fab Five at Michigan
Grant Hill and the easy to hate Duke Blue Devils
Tar Heels :wow:
Big East Tournaments :wow:

The rivalries :blessed:

College basketball was a cultural MOVEMENT
Cosign fully.
Big east in the 80s was a goddamn movement! No one I knew was checkin football.
Hell I saw Walter Berry ball out on west 4th (or was it Rucker???) and it was like the resurrection.

Can we stop with these nostalgia threads? You sound like the old heads you hated on when you were younger.

some are too young to understand it.

lets go down the list.

cwebb was a superstar in the nba, jalen rose became a almost star player in the nba, Juwan howard was the star of the bullets(wizards now).

Those 3 fools played on the same team at the same time.

Dennis scott aka 3D was on the same team with kenny andersen (G-tech). (edited for accuracy)
The LSU team with shaq, Chris Jackson(the dude phil jackson compared curry to)and stanley roberts(another nba center.)

think about that for a moment.and they didnt win it all
tumblr_m3sc6434Gm1r3c99so1_400.jpg

Grant hill played with Hurley, and laetner.

Larry Johnson played with Greg anthony and stacey augmon

If i 'm right about that pat ewing Gtown roster. i think he played with david windgate and reggie williams who i believe were both solid nba players. oh oh and they even had sleepy floyd on the team with pat ewing. he was another baller from way way back. i only remember him as nba player.

do yall realize Alonoz Morning and Mutumbo were both on the same team at the same time. how on earth did anyone score on them in the paint?

we already know about the tarhells with perkins, worthy, jordan all on the same team. just disgusting. or sheed and Stackhouse. or we can go to Vince and Jamison.. i mean....

shoot, that maryland team with Joe Smith
UCLA 94-95 and the obannon brothers, Tyus Edney, Toby bailey

The funny thing about it. as much as we loved the mid 90's. the 80's were even better. i was to young to notice. but when people remind you that some of your favorite nba players played with other SOLID nba dudes who had 15 year nba careers. like multiple nba dudes. thats when you realize how stacked those teams were.
Last year's Duke team had a few guys who will have ten year NBA careers.

Same is true for the Kentucky team that did not win it all.

The Great Midwest Conference/Early Conference USA :wow:

Those battles that use to go down at the UAB Arena/The Bartow :wow:
We could never beat that Penny led Memphis State or the Nick Van Exel/Kenyon Martin Bearcats :mjcry: Come to think of it, Cincinnati kept a squad on the 90s.

College basketball was definitely equal to NCAA football and often times better in the 80's and 90's. IMO it was better than the NBA too. Anybody who says differently probably wasn't there
