This is a whole conversation I can get into, but I think the issue are producers and not rappers. Most producers now just make beats. I was watching some of the Lego Pharrell movie and he came up with a lot of the hooks for the beats he made that became hits.
Also rapping ability isn't applauded in the mainstream like it used to be, unless you Eminem or one of them type rappers. I've heard guys out there that are great but they don't get the same traction as the fat dude from FL that makes the same song off beat.

alien is fantastic. but the thing is >>>>>>>>>.
both have amazing stories, mystery, suspense, etc. i think what separates the two is the characters. them mufukkas in the thing is hilarious ESPECIALLY that nikka childs
plus the interactions and reactions is hilarious
them cut scenes is classic as hell man nah the thing has more going for it than alien. one of the GOAT sci fi flicks but its also funny as hell

As thing is the movie that made having, on tv or spectrum. The precursors to cable into cable.
Aliens at the time was intriguing because it was like morris the cat is in a movie and lives. [The cat is not even morris i believe].
Back when benji was a gawd.
Yet here was the ides that morris was even more superior. As morris was on a space ship and survived this monster deep in space.

Aiyoooo. What a good ass movie!
When the movie started I was mad confused. Took me a minute but I figured out why I was so perplexed…
I kept thinking I don’t remember this movie being in the articThen it hit me….. I have NEVER seen this movie before
I kept assuming this was another movie in 82. A movie I have seen a gazillion times as a kid. Swamp Thing. I was raised in the 80’s as a kid and seen all the movies but this one. I must have always juxtaposed them and did not even think about it
So this was truly a fresh new movie for me and I enjoyed it thoroughly.
1. Great cast and acting
2. As mentioned in this thread the dog at the beginning set the whole tone. Had me creeped out
3. The alien itself and its powers are fukking frighting. The special effects they used were fukking impressive for the time.
4. The thought of being isolated and fighting the alien, the weather, and human nature is pretty daunting
I can’t honestly put it above Alien because I need to do some multiple rewatches. Alien I have seen probably at least 40 times over the years. It’s a old friend. The Thing is now on my great movie list and I can’t wait to watch it again
The thing was the movie parents did a stellar good job of policing.
Plus the sheer dread mentally of this movie. If you witnessed it. Was to much to stomach in one sitting.

I only saw the thing because when i would get dropped off at the orphanage slash babysitter.
eho became my hood godmother ms hill. Miss hill you did not trifle with. You wanted no smoke or to disappoint her. she epuld have beat the shyt outta of amy man womab or child easy. Ehile being the statuesque ebony and essence model of lore. Yet you could be super stealthy and sneak.
to see things you were not meant to see over time.

As hill had a model house and walk in closets and tv dens and rooms. Elegant bathrooms and even housing. No other person at that time really had.
So back then you had to learn how to work spectrum and on tv. Which i don't remember at all it has been so long. Yet back then in houses that had spectrum and on tv. Those parents did not have children.
or did not have boys. There were only older high school girls and babies. So i had an advantage.
as far as being stealthy enough.

to sneak and watch on tv and spectrum.
So what i would do is. Wait till i was let in. Then,....when ms hill went back to her model bed.
after letting me in. i mean lou rawls would sometimes be snealing around no bullshyt.
I would sneak and turn on on tv or spectrum. To watch the rated r adult movie that aired. Now innocently,...i stumbled upon shogun assassin.
Which is my first adult favorite movie back when we had bedtime. That a rated r. Banned movie like this would even be on. So i figured that the adult rated r movie must have re-aired on spectrum in early am blocks. That the movie would restart.
So shogun assassin was just dope to me and i figured since i tackled that rated r movie. This adult rated r thing had to be a walk in the park. So i was gonna try to watch more past my bedtime movies. Early before school at hills model house. Everything was cool watching shogun assassin every morning. Then one morning..i turned on, ontv and i was thrust into, the thing.
Let's just say.
i don't think i even knew what horror was.
or wtf a monster was.
at that time in life.
I don't even think i even knew how to be scared. Well that morning i learned and started watching thing.
I was so fukking scared from the first encounter. I still remember telling myself. I should not have watched this and i definitely was not old enough to watch the thing.[I experienced the same thing sneaking to see terminator. When i eas distinctly told i was not old enough later on].
I was mortified beyond belief.
Plua mentally a wreck. As i was not able to process.
if the thing could be real or not. So i was scared shytless white for years as a kid. That i tried to watch other horror movie to get over it. Where it made it worse. As the psychological terror of the thing. Is unchallenged in any movie ever.
It took me so long.
to get over the fear of the terror in every aspect of this movie. Thing hands down is the one thing as a kid. I paid for being sneaky and doing shyt parents never found out i was doing.
No movie other than chud and blob fukked me up like thing. Eventually i told my pops i snuck and watched the thing. Which happened because on the vhs debut viewing of thriller. I ran the fukk outta there. I was so scared from the imagery of the thing and thriller put together. I could not hear thriller.
or see anything scary of that magnitude all second grade. That to get over my fear. My pops tried to get me to do rated r horror movies.
or roller coasters undersized snd it just made it worse.
So...
I hope none of y'all saw the thing as a kid.
It was thee worst sneaky thing i did as a kid and i paid for it for years.
Couple that with thriller. I hated mike jackson after that. I was scared even more. As nightmare on elm street Came on and just made my fear worse.
Plus made my nightmares from thr thing.
Even worse for me.
I hope none of you saw thing as a kid.
The thing , that wrecked you as a child.
It is the lone scariest thing ever made.
That it should never be seen by children ever.
As a mattwr of fact. You are a bad parent.
to even allow your child to see the thing.
I learned my lesson being an elite sneaky kid. All from watching the thing. Before i was ever ready to see the thing.
