Jay is a better rapper but he never possessed the artistry and vision you need as an artist to consistently make great albums like Kanye did
There’s an insane amount of filler in Jay’s catalog that people act like doesn’t exist. At least half of every album after RD is dated and forgettable
Most of Jay’s albums pale in comparison to Kanye’s because he spent most of his career chasing trends to get to that #1 spot. So every album sounds dated by whatever the top guys at the time were doing sonically
The first 5 or 6 Kanye albums took the trends of that time and elevated them. He reshaped the culture at the time in unique and interesting ways that took a lot of imagination and creativity
Jay does not have these qualities as an artist despite being an amazing rapper

Jay's a far superior rapper/lyricist but his catalog isn't a consistent or groundbreaking/influential as Kanye's.
There's production in 2023 that draws heavy influence from Yeezus alone including on Travis's latest album.
Kanye may be a mentally ill rac00n but his music has stood the test of time more than Jay's imho.
