I lived in Pittsburgh for the last 3 years. I went to law school with upper middle class whites who thought they were victims while they were preparing to make 120K at Reed Smith. But who still blamed Democrats for their underacheving cousins having to work at a bar. My school was down the block from a clinic that primarily dealt with heroin addicts, I saw these folks on a daily. These same people were at Trump rallys and paraded confederate flags on their shytty cars. Being in Pittsburgh gave me valuable insight into the fragile psyche of white middle america in a way I wouldn't have been able to if I had stayed home in NYC.

Trump's protectionism works because it promises these white people something they feel they DESERVE. They believe in meritocracy so fukking much that they believe that they have been screwed over and they do not understand that their skills no longer have as much value anymore. They believe that if only there was a structure set up to show off their hard work they and America in general would be so much better off. Protectionism provides Trump with a long versatile line of villains. The Trump administration understands white middle america alot better than you do based on what you have articulated in your post.

Banking on "everything will backfire" is a losing strategy and you don't have clue how much these people are eating up this protectionist bullshyt. Economist on the left and the right long feared someone like Trump coming along, but they never thought it would happen in their lifetimes with such vigorous rhetoric and sincerity attached to it. Internationalism/Free market trade was thought to have won the intellectual battle decades ago even if there was some resistance amongst the general public, but they never thought Bannon/Trump was going to exist this quickly and win over people this effectively.
Being from Piffsburgh i know EXACTLY what you mean. Take my rep breh

Van Jones just proves why we can't get too wrapped up in all this BS on the news. All these people up there just trying to get a check. I bet half the people on Fox don't even fukk with agent orange like that
I guarantee you, his higher ups told all the workers they need to calm down on going against trump, or they would lose ratings, and the trump administration will get a fight going against them that will make them lose revenue somehow.

I saw a documentary that showed how these news companies are controlled by corporations, and they get orders on what to report, and what not to report. It showed how a report was going to be done on Hillary Clinton(I think), and someone higher up stopped it. That showed me the news isn't about exposing the truth, its basically just gossip, and telling you what you want to hear. This is why you have a fox news for conservatives, and a cnn/msnbc for liberals. If its the news, it should be the truth, not which party you are with, and how you want to hear the news to be told!

It's always best to get news from foreign outlets.

To be honest, I started to take Trump's chances seriously while listening to an in-depth report on Ohio voters from the BBC.

I just saw a few clips of this and he didn't look presidential to me. :ld:

He was still doing that overexaggerated duck lip thing and waving his fingers around. :scust:

Van Jones is the worst representation of a black men on tv. Deadass this nikka is weak and lame. He always is trying to reason with racist white Trump voters.
He's not weak, that's just what he's paid to do, be empathic towards the fragility of cacs. Make an "urban" news network with Van Jones as lead anchor, and I'd bet you'd get a very different response.

i've always said trump has a winning message with a broad spectrum of america. his problem is he lacks discipline and decorum. he showed both tonight and that's why 78% gave him positive reviews on CNN. let's hope nyt/wapo come correct this week so he takes the bait again.
