I realize that memes aren't a great representation of reality, nor or they meant to be, but I'll use this to say, many people don't understand how 'wiretapping' works. The more accurate term is 'wire intercept', I am fairly well versed in this subject, and I know all three of the ways for which wiretaps can work. Tap and Trace, Pen register, and the Title 3 Wiretap intercept. This would be federal, as obviously this case would. It's expensive, and is essentially a last resort, as it's extremely invasive, and is usually contested in court. They have to have a team or transcribers, working all the time, as the intercepts come in, translators, linguists, (who are subcontracted) then the info goes to the agents on the case. It's also screened for relevance to the case, and the application has to be resubmitted after 30 days. The President, esp. Obama could and would never order this to be done. It has to be signed off by a federal magistrate judge, and be taken to by the agents on the case, and an AUSA.
