Mexico is their own country, like it or not. And a significant amount of our goods are manufactured there. And if they lock up the border over this a lot of states economies in the South - think California, Arizona, Texas, New Mexico could come to a standstill.

This may not make sense to you, but in the grand scheme of things this means they will align closer to China and there could be a Cuba 2.0 situation on steroids.

This might be an unpopular opinion but why not just legalize drugs and have them regulated and taxed like alcohol. You want some coke, MDMA, LSD, fent? That would solve a bunch of problems in the U.S. Much less of our people in prison, less police needed and I'm sure it would create jobs with newly legal industries.

Ie taking down the top cartel would actually make things worse, bc it’d just create an empty void and fighting by smaller less organized groups, who are more reckless and ruthless. Think shattering a big piece of glass …. now you have 1000 smaller jagged unpredictable pieces of glass
