Physically capable by taking hormones, the high risk of suicide, the need for therapy? The military is for people with good mental health and physical health. Transgenders dont represent either of those options. If you wanna allow transgender people, we should allow everyone with any mental illness to join.

They're are plenty of people willing to serve in the military. They actually had to cut back years ago. I don't know if it's like that now since Trump is President but when Obama was in the build up in troop numbers under Bush was being cut.

But my own ignorance aside is there a documented body of research that indicates mental issues.
And if we're not in need of recruits then it's not that deep.

Outside of non work hours when would sexuality ever need to come up, where folks need to publically idenfity who they enjoy sleeping with?

If someone is being targeted for their sexuality and mistreated that is an issue, but outside of that I dont get how or why anyone put out who they sleep with.

It shouldn't matter at all who your sleeping with as long as it's a consenting adult and doesn't interfere with your responsibility in the unit. Don't Ask, Don't tell didn't make sense to me when I was serving. I knew plenty of squared away gay Marines and Sailors when I served who did their jobs.

Transgender troops can be a problem for mental and physical reasons. No matter what a man who becomes a woman through a sex change is still a man genetically and biologically and vise versa. For the most part women cannot endure what men can endure physically and mentally in boot camp/basic training. There is a reason why PT standards are different for men and women. If you have a woman become a man through a sex change she still won't be able to handles the rigours of boot camp since she's still genetically a woman. If a man becomes a woman through a sex change he's still biologically a man and will therefore have an advantage over female recruits in boot camp.

If you have PTSD they will put in your packet for a medical discharge. Rape has nothing to do with mental health. We do not say someone has bad mental health if they are a criminal. The military processes recruits base on the fact if they have any mental disorders. Being Transgender is a mental disordered called gender dysphoria. I mean they wont even let you join the military if you have a flat foot with out getting some sort of wavier.

It creates a slippery slope. If a genetic female is allowed to take testosterone to become a "man" and it increases their physical performance, why can't genetic males be allowed to do same?

The female says they want to do it because they want to be a man.

The male says they want to do it because they want to perform better as a man physically.
