I think back in the early stages of the primary campaign, just as he started to take off, he was pretty consistent on being pro-deescalation on every front but ISIS militarily. He had a great quote in the first or second debate on the Iraq war which I can't find.

He also gave his marquee foreign policy speech on August 15th calling for an end to nation-building and a reanalysis of America's shytty current global posture w/r/t relationships with foreign nations.
