A lot of people talking about the Green party (that is people who aren't rich liberal New Yorkers and hipsters) are the same people who will start crying about them charging a buck for a plastic bag at the store and gas being exclusively for rich people.
With that being said, if "Democrats" are 50 %, "republicans" 50 %. Why the hell would 50 % of dems vote for anything else?
That would make sense if Trump was his own party, let's not forget that Trump ran as a Republican, without their blessing and they all called him a scum, but had to fall in line and he did deals with them.
So really if you want a green party candidate, they would need to go through the democrats. There is no other way. It's been proven that a candidate can shift a party to their side, not fully cause you need congress but still shift it.
